New year, new you - new home? Whether you've just bought a new home, have decided to list your current house, or simply want to give your home a fresh look, now is a great time to switch up your style. And, thanks to 2016's design trends, there are plenty of fun and easy ways to do just that. To get you started and give you inspiration, we've rounded up some of our favorite trends taking hold this year. Don't feel pressured to adopt all of them at once - just because the calendar changes doesn't mean you have to replace everything you own or overhaul your life. Instead, see which trends fit your home, suit your lifestyle, and make you smile. A beautiful home is a gift that everyone deserves, so don't be afraid to treat yourself!

1. Natural Fibers

The winner of Coziest Trend goes to natural fibers! You can welcome this trend into your home by adding a nubby wool rugs in neutral earth tones to your living room or bedroom. Soft and comfortable, these materials fit in perfectly with our beloved coastal vibe, and are a quick and easy addition to your space.

2. Big, Bold Bathroom Mirrors

Goodbye, boring rectangles. Hello, ovals, hexagons, and other eye-catching shapes. Statement mirrors are the way to go in 2016, especially when it comes to your bathroom. They're a great way to add some personality and pizazz to a space that doesn't always get a lot of love. We like what we're seeing!

3. Handcrafted Accents

2016 will be a year you set your home apart with the help of unique, artisan pieces. You can expect to see more global offerings in big box stores that want to cash on in this trend while still remaining authentic. While that's one way to work this trend into your home, we prefer the magic of travel adventures, second hand shops, and vintage stores.

4. Pretty Pendants

This year, we'll be trading in our fussy chandeliers for elegant pendants that pack a punch. These statement pieces tend to take up less space without losing any of the glamor. They're great for modern, minimalist designs, and smaller rooms where you need a little room to breathe.

5. Black Stainless Steel

Polished stainless steel has had a grip on our aesthetic - not to mention our appliances - for the last few years. In 2016, we'll begin to see a shift toward black stainless steel. Sleeker and more dramatic, it's a great way to glam up an otherwise utilitarian kitchen.

6. Patterned Wallpaper

Damask prints and bold patterns in bright colors - this is what our walls can expect in 2016! Wallpaper is a great way to add visual interest and personality to a room, especially if you're on a budget. If you're afraid that a bright print will overwhelm a smaller space, consider using it on an accent wall instead. Remember, a little can go a long way!

7. Pantone Color(s!) of the Year

Each year, Pantone names a color of the year. For 2016, for the first time ever, they've given two shades the distinct honor. The winners are Rose Quartz and Serenity. From Pantone's website: "Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace." Sounds lovely, doesn't it?
