When it comes to live music, no city does it better than Wilmington. Almost every weekend during our long, hot summers, you can listen to a band perform their hits as the sun goes down and the city begins to cool. It doesn’t matter what kind of music you like or where you prefer to hang out after hours—the summer concerts in Wilmington are sure to satisfy everyone! Here are five of our favorites.
Downtown Sundown Concert Series
- Date: Friday
- Time: 6pm—10pm
- Cost: Free!
Wilmington’s signature summertime concert series takes place Downtown, on the corner of Princess and Water Streets. It features both local performers and touring bands covering a variety of musical styles and an emphasis on tribute bands.
Monkey Junction Summer Concert Series
Dates: Friday Time: 6pm—9pm Cost: Free! This concert series normally takes place in Mayfaire Town Center, but the 2016 series has moved to Monkey Junction due to construction. There are Kids Zones including bounce houses and putt putt for the little ones, and adults can purchase beer and wine at the show.

Ocean Grill’s tiki bar is located on a pier that juts into the Atlantic. It’s a great summer spot, especially during their concert series! Whether you sip a fruity drink at the bar or rock out from the sand, their weekly shows are a great way to start your weekend early.
Airlie Garden’s Summer Concerts
- Date: First and third Friday of the month
- Time: 6pm—8pm
- Cost: $9 for adults, $2 for children, free for Airlie Garden Members
There’s no place in Wilmington prettier than Airlie Gardens, which makes it a perfect location to relax, unwind, and listen to live music. Bring chairs or a blanket to sit on and a snack or drink to share with friends.
Bluewater’s Live Music on the Patio
- Date: Every Sunday
- Time: 4pm
- Cost: Free!
Enjoy the beautiful view of the Intracoastal Waterway and be prepared to dance to the live music on Bluewater’s patio.
