This month we are excited to highlight one of those agents, Harriet McNeill.

Harriet moved to Wilmington in 1997 after having vacationed here and falling completely in love with the area. That same year she decided to transition into a career in real estate after working for UPS. Real estate was especially appealing to Harriet because it allowed her to have a more flexible schedule. She began working for Network in 2010 and could be not happier with her decision. “It’s wonderful to work for a company with a small town-feel, unlike the more corporate company I worked for previously,” she states.

Explaining that Wilmington is such an ideal area for buyers, Harriet says the close proximity of beaches and the appeal of Raleigh just down I-40 make our city a great central location. Harriet found her niche working with buyers specifically. One of her favorite properties she’s recently found for a client is a condo located on the north end of Carolina Beach and after only having looked at a few homes her buyers purchased it sight unseen. “Watching the home transform into a beautiful space after they completely renovated the unit was just incredible,” she said.

In her spare time, Harriet enjoys boating with Network Real Estate owners Bob and Marilyn, as well as spending time in beautiful Downtown Wilmington. And one of her favorite perks of living here is being able to “sneak off and enjoy the beach during the middle of the week.” We can’t blame you at all, Harriet!

When asked what advice she would give to those thinking about a career in the real estate industry, she suggested laying aside at least six months of income for starting out. During the first few months, she also recommended tagging along with one or a few of the top producers to soak up some of their knowledge. And most importantly, “learn when to listen and when to shut up.” What an excellent tip for building trusting relationships with your clients!
